If there’s one thing the past few weeks have reminded us, it’s that life – and running a small business – rarely goes exactly to plan. One minute we’re wrapping up in hats and raincoats, convinced autumn has arrived, and the next we’re preparing for 30°C heatwaves and wondering how to stop the chocolate melting!
Behind the scenes at Any Green Will Do, it’s been another busy few weeks filled with markets, new opportunities, sustainable discoveries and, of course, plenty of adventures with Miya.
Sometimes the Weather Wins… But So Does Community
Outdoor events are always a bit of a gamble in the UK, and this month’s three-day garden show certainly proved that. Torrential rain turned fields into mud, but visitors still came out to support local businesses. Raising concerns about muddy wheelchair access resulted in bark chippings being laid, making the area safer for everyone.
Every Event Teaches You Something
Trying new venues has continued to be a big focus. A local independent cinema hosted small businesses free of charge and proved a real success, with chocolates, candles and bamboo socks proving particularly popular. One interesting lesson remains that customers often respond better to the term ‘dairy-free’ than ‘vegan’, despite the products being exactly the same.
Sharing Sustainability in Everyday Life
Hydration is about more than water, with electrolytes playing an important role, while Plastic Free July encourages us all to swap just one plastic item for a more sustainable alternative. Supporting smaller eco-friendly brands continues to be central to the Any Green Will Do ethos.
Watching Things Grow
Helping Miya plant and care for sweet peas has been a reminder that gardening teaches patience, responsibility and a love of nature. Sometimes the smallest projects create the biggest memories.
The Joy of Independent Business
Running a small business means adapting, learning and laughing through the unexpected. Whether it’s muddy fields, hot weather, busy markets or the occasional mishap, every experience helps shape the journey.
Looking Ahead
The coming weeks will bring more markets, more sustainable discoveries and more opportunities to help people make greener choices. Sustainability isn’t about perfection—it’s about making thoughtful choices, supporting independent businesses and celebrating the little wins along the way.
