Beautiful Bamboo Silk Full Head Scarf

After working in the fashion industry, Ilke Usluca became increasingly aware of the unsustainable practices and in 2020 started her own range as an advocate of zero-waste. Ilke hand draws all the prints, and designs and handcrafts each product in her studio in London. Consciousness, quality and multi-functionality are among the core values of the products and with a strict zero-waste policy she is aiming to help cut down pre-consumer waste for a positive impact on the environment.

What is Zero-waste and How Do We Make a Textile Item Zero-waste?

Zero waste textiles, as the name implies, is the process of designing and making garments without wasting any or very little fabric. This could mean that the garment pattern is designed in such a way to utilise every last bit of fabric – the pattern pieces fit together perfectly, kind of like Tetris. Textiles have a significant impact on the environment during their lifecycle. A large amount of water, energy, pesticides, and fertilizers have made the global textile industry one of the world’s most polluting and waste-producing industries.

All the patterns of our products are made from blocks of rectangles and if occurred the excess fabric is folded into the product not to be thrown anything into the landfill. Consciousness, quality, and multifunctionality are among the core of Ilke Usluca Design. We design all the prints and hand-make all the products in our little London studio.

What is Bamboo Silk?

This vegan silk is a fibre that comes from bamboo plants. It is much more durable than regular silk and features antimicrobial and hypoallergenic properties. Bamboo silk is made by working the cellulose of the bamboo plant into a paste. Once dry, the sticky paste is woven into a fibre known as bamboo silk.

  1. Hannah

I love this headband, it’s a beautiful material that feels so soft and luxurious. It stays in place amazingly. As someone with thick, curly hair I love the fact that this is gentle on my curls. I like to wear it when I have my hair up in a bun as a delicate feature to break up the style with a splash of colour and detail. I would recommend this product.

Thank you for this review. I am not a hair accessory person myself so this is wonderful to hear from someone who is. Thank you for your support

  2. Geneve

After wearing many different hats, scarves and beanies following chemotherapy, this was by far the most comfortable. It was just the right size, not too much material no itching and it keeps your head cool. I would highly recommend.

Thank you very much. I am so very pleased that this is able to provide relief along with being practical.
